International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2019

December 3, 2019

Message from Andrea Hesse, CEO, Alberta Council of Disability Services

International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is an opportunity to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, well-being, and inclusion of persons with disabilities.

This important day is an opportunity to reflect on the advances we have made as a community to support Albertans with disabilities, and to re-commit to the work ahead.  I am proud of the work our member organizations do, every day, to support the approximately 18,000 adult Albertans with developmental disabilities.  And ACDS is committed to supporting and strengthening the Community Disability Services sector to meet our vision to ensure people with disabilities live full lives as citizens supported by a vibrant network of services in their communities.
